New Day is involved in several different ministries throughout the community, ranging anywhere from supporting the local LGBTQ community in a variety of different ways to providing free crafts for kids throughout the summer to support the District 93 summer lunch program. However, the two main ministries we are dedicated to and support year round are Ruth House and Luther Heights.

Hopeful Giving Project

In January, Pr. Gina challenged the congregation in her sermon series to practice “hopeful giving” – giving without any expectations or instant gratification – like the Magi did. Everyone was given an envelope with some amount of money in it and asked to 1) pray about who or what God might want them to give the money to, 2) look around or ask around for places that they could donate the money to, 3) if desired, register their bill(s) online so that they could track them as they moved around the city, state, country and possibly even the world (i.e. http://wheresgeorge.com/ or http://www.trackdollarbills.com/), 4) match the amount if they could, and most importantly, 5) REPORT BACK TO THE CONGREGATION, either through sending an e-mail to the pastor, making an announcement or doing a temple talk in worship, writing an article for the newsletter, or posting about it on Facebook. If you would like to be a part of the project, just contact Pr. Gina at prgina@newdaylutheran.org.

Ruth House

On the 2nd Tuesday of every month, New Day supports Ruth House with a meal for the women and children there. Ruth House is part of the Idaho Falls Rescue Mission which provides emergency, permanent and transitional housing services to adult females 18 years of age and older and women with children. They provide a safe and sober environment for women who need to get re-established in the community. For more information, visit the Ruth House website

Luther Heights Bible Camp

So many of our youth at New Day have been powerfully moved and impacted by their experiences at Luther Heights Bible Camp throughout the years that we want to make it possible for all young people in our community to go to camp. SO every summer we offer FULL SCHOLARSHIPS to anyone who wants to go to camp. Click here to learn more about Luther Heights Bible Camp.
